I work in a hospital maternity ward and I get to see new babies every day. I really enjoy my work and I get to meet people during an exciting time of their lives. I get asked all the time about what to buy for new born baby gifts.

There is a product line of skin care products for babies that I like to recommend as new born baby gifts. Burt’s Bees makes Baby Bee products for infants. The diaper ointment in their product line is the best I’ve ever encountered. The products are all natural and smell great.

Another recommendation that I make for new born baby gifts is a Moses basket with a hood. A basket is the perfect place for a newborn to nap. There is a lot of variety in styles of inserts. A Moses basket can be fairly inexpensive in some cases. As with all things, the price and the quality vary widely.

I also tell people that new parents can never have enough little receiving blankets. These are usually sold in three or four packs and they come in so many designs that it is hard to go wrong with this choice for new born baby gifts.

In my experience, clothing is not the best new born baby gift. Babies all grow so fast and if they are given too many clothes in the newborn size, they will outgrow them before they are worn or after they are worn only once. It is just not a practical gift to give clothes.

I have been seeing more and more people receiving DVDs for new born baby gifts. The Baby Einstein series has reached a level of popularity that is amazing. Babies as young as six months are entranced by the beautiful pictures and music.

Very few people take the suggestion of a black and white mobile. I think that it is a very good developmental thing to have. New born baby gifts that take into account an infant’s very specific needs will always be appreciated.

I have seen more and more new mothers using slings to carry their infants. A sling can be great new born baby gifts. There are many different styles and this is a gift that can be made by a novice seamstress or purchased online.

Breastfeeding is on the rise again. This is a great thing for our community. Great new born baby gifts for the family that plans to nurse are special nursing pillows. These are shaped like a horseshoe and are a great helper to a nursing mom.

Waldorf dolls make wonderful new born baby gifts. Their simplicity is delightful and the dolls are incredibly soft. There are patterns online to make a doll similar to a Waldorf doll, but they require intermediate sewing skills.

Lastly, I suggest that good new born baby gifts be something personalized with the baby’s name and date of birth. Wall hangings with this information are a lovely addition to the home nursery and always appreciated. New moms love things that are personalized just for their new baby.

There are simply tons of websites online where you can choose gift baskets for any occasion, from birthdays and baby showers to wedding anniversaries and job promotions. While gift baskets make wonderful presents, they can be very expensive and tend not to be very personal. This is why I enjoy putting together my own custom gift baskets for friends and family.

There are two main aspects to making your own gift baskets: the basket itself, as well as the decorative elements and stuffing or wrapping materials, and the items that will go inside the gift basket. Be sure to shop for the gift elements that you wish to fill your gift basket with early on. You may have to order certain things online if you cannot find them at local stores.

To make your basket and decorative elements, simply go to your local hobby and crafts store. Typically, stores like Hobby Lobby or Michael’s will have a large variety of baskets as well as nice boxes that you may choose to use instead of baskets. You’ll find that there is a nice spectrum of quality as well. You can choose cheaper wicker baskets for as little as a couple of dollars a piece, or opt for something sturdier, perhaps with metallic support pieces for a little more.

Choose a basket of box that will be large enough for the items you wish to include in your custom gift basket. Then it’s time to choose the more decorative elements. Typically, you’ll want to add something to the bottom of your gift basket so that the contained gifts are more easily seen.

Instead of choosing something cheap looking like Easter basket grass, choose a more natural element such as natural fibers. You’ll be able to find different sizes, textures and colors or this type of filling material. Once you’ve filled your gift basket, finish it off with some transparent wrapping and bows or ribbons. Whoever receives your custom gift basket will appreciate the personalized nature of your gift.

More and more of my friends have been celebrating milestone anniversaries lately. I am constantly seeing more and more unique anniversary gifts and collectibles displayed in my friends’ homes. I think that displaying the gifts is a really nice touch.

I was at the home of my friends James and Marion recently and saw one of the most unique anniversary gifts and collectibles I’ve ever seen. It suited the two of them so well. The gift came from their oldest son and was a framed cartoon of the two of them that had been personalized with their names and their wedding date.

When my brother and his wife celebrated their thirtieth wedding anniversary last year, their four kids got together and brainstormed unique anniversary gifts and collectibles. I liked the clock they decided on. It was a floor clock with a contemporary feel. It looks great in their house.

My boss recently celebrated his fifteenth wedding anniversary and his wife looked for a long time at a lot of unique anniversary gifts and collectibles. She wanted to find something very tasteful and elegant for him to display in his office. I think she did a great job with the sculpture she chose. It was a clear Lucite block with a poem inscribed on it with his name and their anniversary date.

My cousin was looking for unique anniversary gifts and collectibles for her parents and found a really nice diamond shaped glass oil candle. She is on a limited budget and this was so elegant for the cost. Her parents were very moved by the gift and have it prominently displayed in their home.

My friend William thought that unique anniversary gifts and collectibles meant funny anniversary gifts and collectibles. His wife was not happy when he gave her a large gift box of naughty candy for their tenth anniversary. She was embarrassed because she opened the x-rated gift in front of her grandmother. Sometimes William just doesn’t understand good taste.

I was really intrigued by a plaque I saw at a store recently. It is one of the more unique anniversary gifts and collectibles. It had anniversary trivia related to the date of the marriage. I think that those types of things are really neat. The plaque on display had the movies that were popular that day and made me a little nostalgic.

By far one of the most unique anniversary gifts and collectibles I have ever seen was in my attorney’s office. My attorney’s husband gave her a dozen long stemmed roses that had been preserved in 24kt pure gold. They were in a Waterford crystal vase and were absolutely stunning. He could not have picked a better gift for her and they will last forever.

I was delighted by the christening gifts we received last year when our daughter was christened. This was a big event in our family. Some family members even drove ten hours to come to the ceremony.

My Aunt Louise knows that I liked silver and the christening gifts she chose were all silver. She sent a beautiful frame that had a whimsical religious motif. She also sent two little silver boxes, one for Marian’s first curl and one for her first tooth.

There were several christening gifts that were silver tubes for holding documents. One of the silver tubes was from Uncle Clare and was engraved for Marian’s birth certificate. The other silver tube was from Uncle Wayne and engraved for Marian’s christening certificate.

My cousins all sent christening gifts to us. They found a set of lead crystal mugs with etched shamrocks and sent the set as a group gift. I was very appreciative of the nod toward our Irish heritage.

My Great Aunt Ottie sent Marian her first set of rosary beads. This was one of the most special christening gifts. They were pink and adorned with flowers. They came in a really nice little pouch.

My sister and her husband were picked a long time ago to be godparents for my daughter. We have always been close and I trust her to help my daughter grow up in her faith and in her life. She sent us two lovely christening gifts, one was a framed photo of Marian at the ceremony and the other was a framed photo of my sister holding her right after she was born.

I was surprised at one of the christening gifts. It came without a note and I have no idea who it came from. It was a Celtic cross with shamrocks painted on. It was made really well; I could tell it had been hand painted. I wish I knew who sent it so that I could send them a proper thank you.

I liked the ceramic angel music box that my mother gave to Marian. It was one of the more thoughtful christening gifts because she searched for a long time to find a music box that played songs she liked. The one that she chose plays an Irish lullaby. It is so pretty.

There were christening gifts that were practical as well as decorative. My Aunt Anne sent Marian a really nice piggy bank that had a $100 bill in it. That was unexpected. I wasn’t even sure that my Aunt Anne was going to come to the ceremony, but she did, and she brought a lovely gift.

The only christening gifts that I returned were duplications. Marian received so many lovely things, it was hard to make that decision, but I had to do it. I took the money for the returned items and put it into her new piggy bank. She already has a good start on a savings plan!

My dad is an avid golfer that gives everyone knows golf gifts. There is no occasion that golf gifts are not appropriate. I received a 14kt gold golf ball pendant on a nice gold chain for my birthday. I don’t even play golf

My mom has gotten some really wacky golf gifts over the years. Mostly he finds gold pendants for her. I remember one anniversary when he gave her a dancing golf balls pendant.

My dad bought my older brother a ring for his college graduation gift. I thought that surely he would be able to resist giving golf gifts, but I was wrong. The ring was sterling silver and carved with golf images.

I think that my favorite of all of the jewelry golf gifts my dad has given over the years was the one he gave to his mother a few years ago. He gave her a pair of sterling silver golf bag earrings. Wow, those were some tacky earrings.

At first glance, the bracelets that my dad gave to my daughters did not look like golf gifts. Upon closer inspection, they were both actually golf clubs that were twisted.

Of course, one of the golf gifts dad has given himself was a golf club money clip. I think that his obsession with golf gifts borders on absurd. I can only hope that I don’t get a golf themed dress from him for Christmas.

I know what I’m getting for my dad for Christmas this year. I love snow globes and could not believe it when I found a golf ball sitting on a tee on a green inside a snow globe. It is one of the most awesome golf gifts I could ever hope to find. I hope he doesn’t see one before Christmas, I love to surprise him.

I have been giving unique gifts to friends and family for years. I used to have trouble finding socially conscious gifts, but with the advent of the internet this has gotten pretty easy. I like to find handcrafted items that are fairly traded.

I have purchased several engraved gourd birdhouses that are imported from Peru. I have given only one as a gift and it was truly appreciated. I gave the birdhouse to a home for the elderly in my community.

I found something in my stash of unique gifts to give to a family that just recently had their third child. I had a stone statue from Kenya that depicted a family of five with theirs arms linked in a dance of love. It was a lovely tribute to the family I gave it to.

My mother always giggles at my choices for unique gifts. Last Christmas I gave her hand-woven baskets with wooden handles from Haiti. She has filled them with artificial flowers and keeps them on display in her den.

I keep a lot of unique gifts in my house to take to people’s homes as hostess gifts. My favorite of the hostess gifts is organically grown, fairly traded, tea. I get tea that is grown in the Darjeeling region of India. The tea comes in five varieties, but I only purchase two of them.

My teenage daughter has even joined me in giving unique gifts to her friends. She found a website that sells clutch style purses from Mexico that are hand made using candy wrappers. She gave one to each of her friends last Christmas.

I belong to a book club and at our summer meeting, I gave each of them a bookmark. This may not seem like they were unique gifts, but they were. I purchased them through an organization called the Hunger Site. I purchased fifteen bookmarks, so the Hunger Site was able to fund 375 cups of food for the world’s hungry.

Several of my mother’s friends have been raving about the unique gifts I come up with. They particularly liked the crocheted flower pins that I gave them a couple of years ago. They were really pretty and came in dark pink and orange. They were made in Macedonia by hand.

My niece was looking for unique gifts to give to her bridesmaids at her wedding. I found some really nice sandals for her to give that were hand carved out of singles pieces of wood. They were well received and I got a few phone calls after the wedding inquiring as to where more could be purchased. These were just one more item I found online at The Child Health Site that improves the quality of health worldwide for children.
